Personal Development - How To Build Positive Expectations
Posted in Personal Development on November 30th, 2009 by Ryan Biddulph –
How frequently do you expect bad things to happen? Great expectations are a rarity. When is the last time that you heard someone say,
“What’s the worst thing that could happen?”
We have been trained to focus on the negative. It’s why the news leads off with negative stories. Many people expect bad things and they’re rarely disappointed.
Faith grows out of expectation. When you expect something to happen for a sustained period of time you firmly believe that it will occur. Keep in mind that there are both positive and negative belief systems. Fear is alive with belief. You believe yourself to be fearful and that belief becomes a reality for you. You can’t attract wealth by expecting bad things to happen.
Align yourself with the positive forces of the Universe. Positive expectation brings positive results. Expect something positive to manifest and you will place yourself in alignment with whatever it is that you expect. Great expectations cause great things to happen.
You are a magnetic being. Your thoughts and feelings create the magnetic force which attracts to you whatever you are currently experiencing. The law of attraction responds to your innermost thoughts and feelings. Think wealth, feel wealth, attract wealth. It is the law upon which the Universe operates.
Expectation generates strong emotions. These emotions place your body in a high or low level of vibration. When you think about something you form a picture or idea of it in your mind. When you generate a certain vibration you either attract or repel that something which you are thinking about.
Use your feelings as a guidance system. When you feel bad you are experiencing negative emotions and are not in alignment with what you want. You are expecting negative things to occur. When you feel positive you are in alignment with what you want. You are attracting it into your life. When you are attracting something you have a firm expectation that it will manifest for you. You attract wealth since you believe that you’re wealthy.
As an exercise observe the expectations of the people around you. Are they expecting positive or negative things to happen? Do they worry about things? They may be focused on the bad that could and probably will happen. Even though they don’t want it to happen they are aligning themselves with this circumstance. They picture something, expect it to happen, and it usually does. Great expectations and lousy expectations are determined by the individual.
Focus on what you don’t want and fear that you will experience it. You will receive what you don’t want.
Thoughts + Feelings = Manifestation
The expectations of the people surrounding you are most likely your own. Find yourself worrying about the car breaking down and it is probably a product of your parents’ or friends’ expectations.
We are a product of our environment until we realize that we have a choice. We can choose our own thoughts and feelings. We need not run on mental auto-pilot.
Keep your core desires in the front of your mind. Take a break from whatever you’re doing and sit down for 10 - 20 minutes with a pen and pad.
I write out a statement affirming what I most want to achieve in life. I take possession of my desire in the present since the law of attraction responds to my present state. You can’t attract wealth in the future since the future never arrives.
Try to write down your core desire 100 times each day. Whatever you focus on will begin to manifest for you. Don’t underestimate the power of your thoughts and feelings or you will fall into hard work consciousness. Hard work will attract hard work. Thinking about and feeling your desires in the present will attract these desires.
Expect happiness. Expect joy. Expect all of your dreams to manifest now. Do whatever you need to do to strengthen this expectation. Become a master at applying the law of attraction.
The more that you focus on what you want the less that you will focus on what you don’t want. Build great expectations. You will expect what you want and eventually you will experience it.
