“You are unique. Your thoughts are your thoughts.” ~ Bob Proctor, The Power To Have It All

The habit of comparing yourself to others is a curse. You are unique. Your path is unique. To think that you will have a life experience identical to someone else is absurd.

You may appear to live like another person but you haven’t the first clue as to what’s going on in their mind.

No two thoughts are identical, no two people are identical. Since the choice of your thoughts indicates the direction in which your life will proceed no two lives can be the same.

If no two blades of grass are the same how could you ever attempt to compare two beings as complex as humans?

This is why the habit of comparing yourself to others is a curse. You’ll always fall short when trying to match another person. They’ll fall short when comparing themselves to you.

Be you. There was never another you. There will never be another you.

Be thankful to be you. You’ll experience the fullest life when you are being you.

Seeking to use other’s results as a benchmark rejects your uniqueness. Your life becomes a big game of copycat. ‘If he’s doing it, and doing it well, you have to do it to’, is the thought pattern.

Do you know how he’s doing it? Do you know what’s going on in his mind at the time?

“Getting rich is not the result of doing certain things, but doing things in a certain way.” ~ Wallace Wattles, The Science Of Getting Rich

Wattles revealed a beautiful truth. Attaining certain results is not based on what you do, it’s based on HOW you do it.

Of course you’ll take actions which are similar to others. But the results vary. Always.

Thought causes all, and different thoughts in different minds bring different results.

Have you ever read a blog with a massive readership yet substandard content? These bloggers don’t compare themselves to those who write eloquent, flowing posts. If they did they probably wouldn’t even bother writing a blog. They think success, do what takes to be successful, and become successful.

They might take an idea here, and idea there, but they put a unique twist on the work.

If you strive to be like others you will be just like most others: Average.

Be you.

How often do you compare yourself to others? How can you overcome this mistake?

Please Retweet, share on Facebook and spread the word about my blog. I appreciate your active support.

  • How I hated being compared to others. It is better to set agreed targets to be achieved as a means of comparison. This why I very rarely compare myself to others.
  • You are wise Oussama. People generally figure out how they are doing in any area by seeing how their neighbor's doing. In school, in sports, etc. It's better to simply be you, God has a different plan for each of us.
