How Free Advertising Pays Off

Posted in Network Marketing on December 2nd, 2009 by Ryan Biddulph –

I came across a comment yesterday stating that anybody who uses youtube to advertise is obviously not a successful mentor. The line of thinking was since they use free advertising methods they must be broke.

In the beginning you might need to use free methods. As your marketing budget grows perhaps you can pay for an SEO or postcard marketing company to supplement your campaign.

I would strongly advise to continue to use at least a few free methods. Why?

Become An Expert In Your Field

You’ll become an authority quickly by using free methods.

Do you want to be really good at what you do? Create! If you want to get by like your neighbor shell out a few hundred a month to someone who’ll do your work for you. There’s nothing wrong with outsourcing. It’s fine to supplement your campaign with paid methods but if you want to become and expert, you’ll run a blog. You’ll write articles. You’ll publish books.

Focusing on creation pays off in the long run. Competitive methods are effective now, creative methods are forever prospering. You can’t put a price tag on a popular book or frequently visited blog. Instead of hunting down prospects you’ll attract them.

Free Advertising Can Make You A Marketing Expert

Using free advertising makes you a marketing expert. You learn new methods each day. You become more creative. You have to in order to succeed.

Once you become an expert you can critique an ad company’s work. You’ll see through scams. You’ll have the knowledge of someone who’s been through the wars.

It’s On You, Kid

When using free advertising methods you’re responsible for your lot.

Don’t feel like posting to your blog for a week weeks? No problem, but no sales.

Don’t feel like writing articles? No problem, but no sales.

It’s all up to YOU. Nobody else is going to market for you. Free marketing teaches a fine lesson in responsibility. You’re 100% responsible for your results. No more blaming the SEO for your crumby sales numbers.

Just The Facts, And Plenty Of Them

If your free advertising is hype-filled you won’t make many sales. Today’s consumers are more sophisticated. They see through the glitz and glamour. They’ve heard all the pitches. They can tell a slick marketer from an authoritative mentor.

Focusing on the facts causes you to know your craft inside-out. No better way to become an authority.

Do you use free advertising methods? Have you had success with free advertising?

  • When starting a new band, their goal is to play as much as possible...essentially "make as much noise" whenever they can.

Same goes for any small business or blogger. Get yourself out there and spread the word. No need to pay until you get paid!
  • I agree. And I can't disagree any more with the saying "you have to spend money to make money." You must spend time and energy to make money.
