Personal Development - Do You Take Care Of Your Money?

Posted in Personal Development on November 26th, 2009 by Ryan Biddulph –

Like most people I grew up with the idea that taking care of your money meant guarding it, hoarding it, or saving it for a rainy day. These ideas are consistent with someone who’s scared of losing their money.

Taking care of money means to feel good about it. It means to treat it with respect. Just as you’d take precious care of a luxury car so should you take care of money.

The feelings which you associate with money determine the amount of money which you’ll accumulate. Celebrate the money you have, you’ll receive more of it. Bemoan money and you’ll receive less and less of it.

Fear losing money and you certainly will. You won’t attract wealth if fearing poverty. Enjoy spending money. Feel grateful for it. Stare at it. Bless it. Positive emotions form an attractive magnet which draws money to you.

Order Your Wallet

When receiving change don’t be in a rush to shove it haphazardly into your wallet. Carefully order your wallet by lining up your 100’s, 20’s, 10’s, and singles. Most handle money like a hot potato; that’s why they lack it. Be in a rush to put it away and the universe restricts the flow of money to you. You’re placing an order “I feel uncomfortable with this stuff”. The universe listens and obeys your command.

Don’t Make Bill Paying A Huge Ordeal

When some people sit down to pay their bills you’d think that they were planning their funerals. It’s a solemn event. In most cases people have more than enough money to cover the bills. This is just a bad, poverty conscious habit which they’ve acquired by watching others.

In a few cases people can’t cover the bills. If you are going to be evicted it could be an extremely stressful situation, but what are you going to do about it? Waste energy on stressing or develop a plan to acquire money? Remember, you caused the situation, and you are going to be the one who digs themself out of it.

If you have enough to keep a roof over your head and a few things in the fridge, spare me the drama. I’ve been there. I’m still alive today. Contrary to popular belief they don’t send the firing squad if you’re late on credit card payments.

Make It Look Like Good Money

Ever seen a tattered, folded 20 dollar bill? Does it feel like a 20 dollar bill?

Make your money pleasing to the eyes. If someone gives you a crumpled bill take the time to straighten it out and place it neatly in your wallet.

Never put a sloppily folded bill into your wallet. It looks like crap and you’ll treat it like crap. What type of signal do you think this sends to the universe? That you don’t respect money. And you won’t attract wealth.

Cash Checks Immediately

Don’t do this out of fear. Do it with the firm belief that by cashing your check more money is on the way. Do you let checks lay around for days? Weeks? Money is only useful when it’s in circulation.

A check is an ink-stained piece of paper. Unless cashed its function is that of a dust collector.

Do you take care of your money? How can you improve in this department?

  • I enjoyed this Ryan! I have always told my friends to take care of their money in their wallets as you stated but I have never thought about cashing the check right away. I am going to start doing that too. Very good points - as usual!! Thanks!
  • Thanks for stopping by Kathie......The check cashing tip came to mind recently. I used to cash checks out of a feeling that I needed the money right away, which is not good since it gives off the vibration of neediness. Then I let checks sit around, figuring that I didn't need them. Also an error, because money that isn't being used or earning interest is useless. Finally I began to celebrate each check I recived and I cash them right away.
  • Hey Ryan.

Good call on these actionable tips. You are right about being uncomfortable dealing with money causing it to be lost. The universe does respond to events like that. What we are comfortable with is in our hands, and what we are not, is not.

I don't know why I haven't read material like this before but that means you hit on good novel points. Money has to be viewed without seeing it fearfully. If we are not here, the money has 0 value, so we have to remember which one of us is more important.

Ryan brings it home with the money handling info.
  • The first time I discovered the awesome Gifting guy Ryan. I read this article and I was like "WOAH! THIS IS STUFF TO READ AND LIVE BY"
