Having to market your company or product online can be a very stressful thing to do. There are so many tips, tricks, and ways to do it that you can get bogged down in the process. Another tidbit of information about online marketing is that it is a process. You cannot expect to see drastic results overnight in most cases. There are steps to staying patient, positive, and proud during the period of online marketing. Although it is a hard task and can be a bit hard to juggle especially with the extra work that is put in other aspects of a company, there is an avenue for success in this field. You can do it, just believe in the following steps.
Give yourself a break!
Your mind cannot and should not function on too many things at once, so allow time to really just have a break to sit and relax. “All work and no play made Jack a dull boy.” You do not need a dull marketing approach, but instead you need to be rejuvenated and ready to tackle any challenge. A fresh mind is one that can come up with the most remarkable attempts at marketing your particular project. Your vacation will be different than your neighbors. Perhaps a quiet evening alone reading a book for leisure would suffice or maybe a true vacation off to a land far away for the week is what you need to get your mind prepared to take on this new adventure. Whatever works for you (and what you can afford) is the best action. Any kind of refreshment is needed.
Next, find ways to manage your time and your efforts.
Organization is a main key when it comes to marketing or any other company program. Have a box, a drawer, or some special place designed just for all marketing materials. Perhaps you can put them aside in a special place where they will all remain together and not get separated. This is a great idea to manage the space and the project. Also, keep track of the plan and the efforts at all time. Let nothing go undocumented or unplanned. Have a detailed plan available, not a bunch of jumbled notes, but one organized plan to be able to refer to, scratch off of, and guide every effort. Organization. Organization. Organization.
Specific is terrific.
In the marketing world, the worst thing you can do is bite off more than you can chew. Rather, take baby steps. Think of the exact amount of clients or sells that you need right now and then act on that alone. Do not try and shoot for one million when you merely need one hundred, if you know what I mean. This is not to discourage dreaming big or setting high goals, it is encouraging setting multiple achievable goals that can eventually add up to one large goal.
Manage time wisely.
You are literally going to have to set aside certain times of you week or days to put at simply marketing. Do not procrastinate. If there is a certain deadline, plan early.
Utilize your resources.
There are so many resources available to assist with marketing that make it impossible for you not to succeed. Get your hands on some business card templates, systems available to help with following up with those who get your cards, see social media, etc. Campaign items, contact databases, newsletter, blogs, and other items are often able to be handled through systematic programming. There are many systems that you can purchase that will seriously eliminate the amount of manual labor you are doing by simply playing into the program. When you cannot duplicate yourself or hire help, you must simply tap into the resources available (and thankfully there are a lot!).
Lean on someone, when you’re not strong.
It is okay to seek for help! Sometimes when your plate is too full, you must get help! It is not considered to be failing to ask for help, it is failing to not ask for help when you need it. Get support from someone. Find a mentor or an accountability partner. Perhaps a marketing coach can help ensure you are getting on the right track or help make sure your final plan is set in motion. For whatever or whenever throughout the process you feel that you need support, get it!
Although there is a great deal of planning involved, you must also make sure to get moving. Action speaks louder than words, remember? You must get to work in many areas to get the marketing out there and ready for consumers to notice and further respond.
Call to Action:
Get your mind ready to work. Find a location and time for all marketing materials and planning. Search for any necessary support or systems. Set a moderate goal, and begin to plan.
“If you fail to plan, you are planning to fail.” –Benjamin Franklin
